Tender Fundamentals Certificates 1 and 2 are for professionals who are new to bidding, or have limited experience, or who want a refresh in the basics of government and private sector tenders.
We break down the two sides of bidding:
- The 'buy' side – the different types of tender documents and their various parts, bid terminology, how a tender is evaluated, and what the client wants to achieve.

Tender Fundamentals Certificate 1
Do you know the difference between an RFP and an EOI, or understand the different parts of a tender document?
If you don’t know or are unsure about any of these topics, then this course is for you.
You will gain context of how tenders form part of the procurement process to understand what the buyer aims to achieve through a competitive bid.
You will learn:
- An overview of the procurement process, including competitive tendering

Tender Fundamentals Certificate 2
Tenders are compliance, commercial and a sales and marketing document. It is important to you submit a proposal that addresses all these aspects.
Tender Fundamentals Certificate 2 will provide you with an overview of the key requirements for a compliant and competitive tender price and written response.
You will learn:
- Key factors bidding parties consider when determining whether to bid
- The key deliverables which comprise a winning bid, including answering all questions, including mandatory information, reviewing the contract and identifying relevant tender requirements.
- How to identify your differentiators
- Elements involved in preparing a tender price
- Demonstrate value for money.

How long will it take me to complete?
Typically, it takes between 2.5 – 3 hours to complete both courses. You can complete Tender Fundamentals Certificates 1 & 2 at your own pace.
The length of time required to complete the course may vary depending on your skill level, your previous experience and level of computer literacy.
How do I access the course?
Once you buy and enrol in the courses, you will receive an email with your log-in details to access to the courses.
Tender Fundamentals Certificates 1 & 2 are delivered online via the Tender Training College’s e-learning system. You will require an Internet connection and speakers to complete the courses.
You can access this system at any time, and stop and start the certificates as you like.
Is there an assessment or exam?
Our competency based training and assessments means you will be tested on your knowledge throughout each module. This means the learnings from the Tender Fundamentals Certificates 1 & 2 are embedded, and you can apply them to writing tenders immediately once you complete the courses.
You will complete a Final Assessment at the end of each module. A certificate will be awarded at the completion of the courses and when you gain an 80% pass in each of the Final Assessments.
