A three-hour virtual private workshop covering the fundamentals of tenders and bidding.
Course overview
Learn the background to government and private sector tenders and the fundamental elements of preparing a quality proposal.
The Tender Essentials Workshop provides an overview of what tenders and tendering is all about, and provides an overview of how to submit a compliant and competitive bid.
Three-hour training program is delivered via Zoom or Teams with an experienced tender coach. The program can be delivered as 2 x 1.5-hour sessions or a single 3-hour workshop.
You will follow a set agenda, with the content customised to your business, and specific learning and tendering requirements.
You will be learn about the both sides of bidding, including:
- The client's tendering process
- How a tender is evaluated
- Various types of bid documents
- What's required for developing a compliant and competitive proposal
- Key steps to develop a winning proposal.

Session 1:
You will learn about the ‘buy’ side of tendering, including:
- Understand tendering in the procurement context
- Identify core sections and functions of a typical tender
- Understand the tender evaluation process
- Identify elements of a winning bid
- Understand key steps in an effective bid process.
Session 2
You will learn about the ‘supply’ side of tendering, including:
- How to determine if you should bid or not
- The key elements to managing a bid
- Ensure a complaint bid through understanding the tender requirements
- An overview of how to develop the key deliverables (price and written response)
- Tips for identifying a value proposition and answering questions
- How to format a high quality proposal
- Tips for meeting the tender deadline.

Kate Burrows is the founder and Managing Director of the Tender Training College. She has 20 years' of experience across the bidding lifecycle including procurement, tendering and contract delivery.
She has supported some of Australia’s largest companies in the finance, defence, infrastructure, professional services, engineering, not-for-profit and transport sectors to win $30 billion in new business.
Kate has worked as a submission manager, strategist, writer, editor, reviewer and coach across some of the largest and most complex tenders in Australia and New Zealand. Projects include Sydney Light Rail, Inland Rail Project, Sydney Gateway and the Waratah Train Project.
She trains professionals from small and large business to improve their tender performance. Clients include Acer Computers, Certis Security, Transdev Australasia, St John Ambulance, Mission Australia and CPB Contractors.
